Two riders and their dogs quad biking on Stockton Beach with Newcastle in the distance

Can You Take Your Dog Quad Biking on Stockton Beach? πŸ•

A surprising enquiry gave us the perfect excuse to imagine a dog-friendly ride on the dunes near Newcastle.

We recently received an unusual question at Quad Bike King:

β€œCan I bring my dog on the quad bike tour?” 🐾

Naturally, this prompted us to imagine what a dog-friendly Stockton Beach quad biking tour might look like.

Golden retrievers perched happily on the front racks. Dogs racing alongside the quad bikes. Ears flapping in the sea breeze, with Newcastle visible across the water in the background. 🌊

It makes a great picture. In reality, however, the answer is a very definite no.

🚫 Why dogs cannot join our quad bike tours

Even before considering the rules, common sense presents a few problems.

Our quad bikes travel across soft sand, steep dunes and changing beach terrain. A dog could jump from the bike, run beneath another vehicle, become frightened by the engines or simply decide to chase a seagull at precisely the wrong moment. πŸ¦…

Putting a dog on the front luggage rack may look entertaining in an edited photograph, but it would not be remotely safe for the dog, rider or other participants.

There is also a more official reason.

Our tours operate within the protected Worimi section of Stockton Beach. NSW National Parks states that pets and domestic animals β€” other than certified assistance animals β€” are not permitted in Worimi National Park. The restriction helps protect native wildlife, the surrounding environment and the animals themselves. 🌿

🐢 A dog's-eye view of Stockton Beach

The photograph does capture one thing accurately: Stockton Beach is an extraordinary place for quad biking.

With rolling sand dunes, sweeping ocean views and Newcastle visible in the distance, it feels remarkably remote despite being only a short trip from Newcastle and Port Stephens.

Unfortunately, your dog will have to enjoy the adventure through your photographs afterward. πŸ“Έ

🏠 Leave your four-legged driver at home

So, can you take your dog quad biking near Newcastle?

No β€” but we appreciate the customer who asked, because the question gave us an excellent excuse to create this picture.

No dogs were placed on quad bikes in its production. No dogs raced across Stockton Beach. And, despite appearances, none has yet completed our rider safety briefing. πŸͺ–
